The Old Man and the Sea Continued….
The way everyone thinks is always so different. The way the old man thinks in this story is deep. He is always thinking about different things that have happened to him. A lot of the time he is remembering things he has done with the boy. He lives in his memories.
” if the others heard me talking out loud they would think that I am crazy,” he said aloud. “But since I am not crazy I do not care.” Page 39
This line gives me the feeling that the old man does not care about what anyone thinks of him. He seems very lonely to me, and the only friend and companion he has is the boy. The time and thought that he put into hooking this fish is unreal. I do not know anyone that would go all night and drift away from land, civilization, and their life and safety just to catch a fish. He has strength, and knowledge that not many people have.
